BREATH CONTROL & OCEAN CONFIDENCE INTRO COURSE

Before joining a group training session, new students start in a 5 hour introduction course.

COURSE SCHEDULE:

LAND KNOWLEDGE SESSION

Starting with a session on land, new students learn the anatomy of breathing and how to optimize it. Understanding the science of what’s happening in the body makes it much easier to hold your breath effectively.

FREEDIVING BASICS

In the freediving basics section, your child will get a brief introduction to free diving and breath holding. We will practice breathing techniques on dry land and static breath holds (face down breath holds in one spot) in the pool. By practicing in a controlled environment, your child will be better equipped to handle breath holds in less predictable and more challenging situations.

SAFETY & BASIC RESCUE TECHNIQUES

In the safety section, your child will learn signs someone may be in trouble, how to prevent a blackout, and how to keep your buddy safe until help can be reached.  By learning basic rescue techniques, your child will gain the confidence in what to do if something were to go wrong.

REAL LIFE TYPE SCENARIOS

After learning techniques to maximize their breath hold, we’ll put those skills to use in drills that simulate real-life situations. During these scenarios, we will focus on under water efficiency, staying calm under stress, and techniques to conserve oxygen to improve their breath hold.
